Dr. Michael Payne is a highly experienced radiation oncologist specializing in the use of targeted radiation therapy to treat cancer. With over two decades of practice, he has dedicated his career to providing compassionate, patient-centered care to adults facing all types of cancer.
A Chicago native, Dr. Payne earned his Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University before obtaining his Doctor of Medicine from Rush Medical College. He then completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Illinois, followed by a four-year residency in radiation oncology at the University of Kansas, where he was honored as Chief Resident for two years. He further honed his expertise through a fellowship in radiation oncology at New York Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Payne has held leadership positions throughout his career, including serving as Medical Director of Radiation Oncology and Vice Chair of Ambulatory Services. He is passionate about a holistic approach to cancer treatment, emphasizing the role of diet, lifestyle, and mental well-being in patient care.
Committed to advancing the field of radiation oncology, Dr. Payne is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Radiation Oncology, the American Society for Radiation Oncology and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
With a deep commitment to treating each patient as he would his own family, Dr. Payne strives to provide the highest quality care with expertise, compassion, and innovation.
Dr. Payne enjoys hiking, traveling and spending time with his family including his 2 rescue dogs.
