Personal Info

With a deep passion for patient-centered care, Teresa Colby has dedicated her career to making a meaningful impact on the lives of those she serves. Her journey into healthcare was deeply personal—after experiencing a prolonged hospitalization, she was profoundly inspired by the compassionate care she received from nurses and doctors. This experience solidified her commitment to the medical field and set her on a lifelong path in healthcare.

Teresa began her nursing education at Cochise College in Douglas, Arizona, earning her Registered Nurse (RN) credentials in 1994. Her early career spanned long-term care, medical-surgical nursing, and the hospital float pool, allowing her to gain experience across multiple specialties in Tucson-area hospitals. She then served 13 years in the Trauma/Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at University Medical Center in Tucson, where she honed her expertise in perioperative care, physical rehabilitation, emergency medicine, and flight nursing—each role further shaping her clinical perspective and deepening her commitment to patient care.

Driven by a desire to make a broader impact on preventative care and long-term patient outcomes, Teresa pursued advanced practice nursing. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) degree from Walden University in Minnesota. She then spent five years as a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), delivering comprehensive healthcare to underserved populations in rural Arizona. Her work reinforced her passion for prevention, early intervention, and holistic patient well-being.

In 2021, Teresa transitioned to Hematology and Oncology, joining Southwest Cancer Care, where she has found the most rewarding and inspiring chapter of her career. As a Nurse Practitioner in oncology, she is committed to guiding patients and their families through their cancer journey with compassion, education, and evidence-based treatment approaches. Her mission is to enhance the quality of life for her patients, ensuring they receive the best possible care and support throughout their treatment and beyond.

A lifelong resident of Cochise County, Teresa takes great pride in serving her community and is honored to care for those facing complex health challenges. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, gardening, and spending quality time with her family. She remains committed to improving patient outcomes and advocating for excellence in cancer care, both in the clinic and beyond.
